I had other things on my mind.

There were so many people standing in line to board. I sat down and waited for the line to thin out. Once I got up, I realized I had missed my group to board by 3 groups. I wasn’t in a hurry.

As I walked toward the back to my seat, every seat I pass is full. I knew I had an aisle seat. Not my favorite but at least it wasn’t the middle. I stored my bag and took my seat. An empty seat was between me and a young girl who sat next to the window. I said hello and waited for the middle seat to be filled. It remained empty.

I quickly closed my eyes and napped most of the flight. As crazy as it may seem, the desire to talk to a stranger didn’t hit me today. I had other things on my mind.

As I made my way to my last connection, which seemed forever away, I looked out the window and saw one of those tiny ass planes. I knew I’d be on one soon.

Four passengers stand in line. Is this it? Only 4? We head out to the tarmac, climb in and off we go.

It’s still feels like a Volkswagen hitting potholes but the landing was smooth. It’s a little windy but a beautiful day on the Vineyard. I came home to a hand made flower arrangement from a staff member. A reminder that this is my home away from home.
